A camera allows us to take control of the thousands of subtle, fleeting moments that define our lives. We can capture something intangible—light—and hold it captive, releasing it again on our own terms, as a photograph, whenever and wherever we want.
Educated in graphic design, my schooling included three years of formal photography training along with art history. I fell in love with the French Impressionists’ relaxed style and perception of everyday life, and it is those artists from whom I draw inspiration. I believe in the strengths of composition and light, and believe that when those two principles are used effectively, the everyday can look extraordinary. A design career in the magazine industry has allowed me to work with many fantastic commercial photographers whose knowledge and skill have helped me shape my own photographic vision, a vision that I would now love to share with you.
